Treatment Techniques

Research based techniques utilized in our treatment sessions include Ayres Sensory Integration, Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting Without Tears, Brain Gym and HANDLE techniques, literature-based speech and language interventions for school-aged children paired with drill-based speech therapy for articulation disorders. Naturalistic Interventions to promote speech and language development for toddler-preschoolers, and parent coaching on home practice and implementation.

STAR Center Sensory Processing Disorder Center

STAR Institute is the premier treatment, research and education center for children and adults with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). This includes feeding disorders and other disorders with sensory issues such as autism and ADHD. To learn more, visit the website here.

Handwriting Without Tears

The Handwriting Without Tears is the most effective printing and cursive writing program.   It incorporates developmentally appropriate, multisensory strategies to engage children in pre-writing activities. To learn more, visit the website here.

Autism, Asperger's, and PDD-NOS 

Bal-a-Vis-X is a series of rythmic Balance, Auditory, Vision, eXercises, of varied complexity, which promote brain and body integration, full body coordination, and attention. It is a series of midline crossing exercises, using sand-filled bags,  racquetballs, and a balance board.

Integrated Listening Systems

Using digitally modified music and movement, iLs trains the brain to process sensory, cognitive, and emotional information more effectively. 

The program involves using specialized headphones that provide air and bone conduction to the head and ears.  iLs has been referred to as “a boot camp for the brain.”
